Police seek info from public regarding suspicious incident

The Brantford Police Service is investigating a suspicious incident involving a youth and is asking members of the public for information.

On Friday, June 5, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a teenage girl was walking in the area of Brock Street and Colborne Street East, when an unknown adult male engaged her in conversation. 

The youth did not enter the vehicle and left the area safely. The incident was subsequently reported to police.

Investigators are seeking assistance from the public to identify the individual involved and the circumstances surrounding the encounter.

At this time, investigators are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the interaction to contact police.

As a reminder, parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with children and youth about personal safety and situational awareness. Community members should remain alert to their surroundings, trust their instincts when a situation feels uncomfortable, and move to a safe location or seek assistance if approached by an unknown person in a manner that causes concern.

Police also encourage youth to:
• Avoid approaching or entering a stranger's vehicle.
• Maintain awareness of their surroundings when walking alone.
• Travel with friends when possible.
• Report suspicious interactions to a trusted adult and police as soon as possible.
