Brantford Police Investigating Break and Enter to Jewelry Store

Brantford Police Service ? Street Crime Unit is currently investigating a Break and Enter
to a jewelry store on Lynden Road.

On Monday May 28, 2018 the Brantford Police Service received a report of a Break and
Enter to JH Young Jewelers located on Lynden Road, Brantford. Sometime between
Saturday May 26 and Monday May 28, 2018 unknown person(s) broke into the business.
Reported stolen was jewelry including watches, rings and necklaces.

The investigation is in its infancy and members of the BPS- Street Crime Unit are
working closely with the owners of the business. Anyone with information is urged to

Crime Brief - May 30, 2018

Incident: 18-20416
Location: Clarence Street
Incident: On Wednesday May 30, 2018 just before 4:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Clarence Street.  Officers observed the vehicle fail to stop for a red traffic light at Clarence Street and Colborne Street.  Officers performed a traffic stop and as the vehicle slowed and stopped it struck the curb.  Officers upon speaking to the female driver observed signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where she was to provide samples of her breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over twice the legal limit.  A 59 year old Tara woman is charged with Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle and Operation of Motor Vehicle ? Over 80.  The driver?s licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location: Baldwin Ave      
Incident:  On Tuesday May 29, 2018 just before 9:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residence on Baldwin Ave.  The resident contacted police after finding an unknown person in his residence.  The owner had located a person who had broken into his residence through the mudroom and when confronted fled the area on a bike.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area and searched for the suspect.  The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, tall with a skinny build with short dark hair wearing a ball cap, a blue plaid shirt and pants.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Brantford police Investigating Gun Shots on 100 Block of Terrace Hill Street

On May 29, 2018 at approximately 6:32 am members of the Brantford Police Service - Community Patrol Unit attended a location on Terrace Hill Street in relation to the sound of gun shots. Upon arrival police noticed bullet holes to a building and members of the BPS - Emergency Response Team along with K9 attended.  Evidence was gathered from the scene by the Forensic Identification Section. 

At this time there are no injuries to report and officers were advised a male suspect was seen running West bound up Terrace Hill Street.  The suspect is described as having a thin build wearing a grey or black hoodie.

The investigation is in its infancy and it is unknown if this building was targeted.  The BPS-Major Crime Unit is asking for the public?s assistance. Anyone who may have seen the suspect or who may have video surveillance in the area is asked to contact the Brantford Police Service.

Male and Female Arrested after Vehicle Stolen at Gun Point

On May 28, 2018 at approximately 3:40 am members of the Brantford Police Service attended a location on Fifth Avenue in relation to a disturbance. Upon arrival police were advised a male and female attempted to steal a vehicle but were confronted by the owner. The male and female left the area and were spotted by Community Patrol Officers who deployed a "stop stick? causing the front tire to deflate. The vehicle continued and fled the area. 

At 4:10 am this vehicle was located on fire on St George Street.  Another stolen vehicle was reported and observed by the Six Nations Police and later the Ontario Provincial Police. This vehicle was abandoned in the city of Brantford.  The male and female made their way to an address on Clarence Street.  At this time the male pointed a gun at the victim and the female punched the victim. A 28 year old male victim received non-life threatening injuries.

This stolen vehicle was located by the Six Nations Police Service who assisted in the arrest of a 25 year old female from Scotland, Ontario. The female is currently being charged with a variety of offences including:

1- Attempt theft of Motor Vehicle, Contrary to Section 331.1(1)/463 of the Criminal Code.
2- Possession of Property Under, Contrary to Section 344(B) of the Criminal Code.
3- Theft of Motor Vehicle, Contrary to Section 333.1(1) of the Criminal Code.
4- Possession of Property Under, Contrary to Section 334(B) of the Criminal Code.
5- Robbery using a firearm, Contrary to Section 344(A) of the Criminal Code
6- Theft of Motor Vehicle, Contrary to Section 333.1(1) of the Criminal Code.
7- Possession of Property Over, Contrary to Section 334(A) of the Criminal Code.
8- Breach of Recognizance, Contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.

A 34 year old male from Ohsweken, Ontario is being charged with an extensive series of offences including:

1-Use firearm while committing an offence, Contrary to Section 85(1) (a) of the Criminal Code.
2-Careless use of a firearm, Contrary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code
3- Point Firearm, Contrary to Section 87 of the Criminal Code.
4- Weapon possession for dangerous purpose, Contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code.
5-Carry concealed weapon, Contrary to Section 90 of the Criminal Code.
6- Firearm unauthorized possession, Contrary to Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code.
7- Possession of a restricted weapon, Contrary to Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code.
8- Firearm knowledge of unauthorized possession, Contrary to Section 92(1) of the Criminal Code.
9- Firearm in motor vehicle, Contrary to Section 94 of the Criminal Code.
10- Possession of a weapon contrary to an order, Contrary to Section 117.01 of the Criminal Code.
11- Dangerous Driving, Contrary to Section 249(1) (a) of the Criminal Code.
12- Robbery using a firearm, Contrary to Section 344(A) of the Criminal Code.
13- Arson damage property, Contrary to Section 434 of the Criminal Code.
14- Attempt theft of Motor Vehicle, Contrary to Section 331.1(1)/463 of the Criminal Code.
15- Theft of Motor Vehicle, Contrary to Section 333.1(1) of the Criminal Code.
16- Possession of Property Under, Contrary to Section 334(B) of the Criminal Code.
17- Theft of Motor Vehicle, Contrary to Section 333.1(1) of the Criminal Code.
18- Possession of Property Over, Contrary to Section 334(A) of the Criminal Code.
19- Possession of Property Under, Contrary to Section 344(B) of the Criminal Code.

Crime Brief - May 28, 2018

Location: West Street and Harris Ave
Incident: On Sunday May 27, 2018 just after 12:30 p.m. Brantford police Service received 9-1-1 call about an assault that occurred at the intersection of West Street and Harris Ave.  The victim a 27 year old Brantford male was in his vehicle in the area of Darling Street.  While parked he was approached by another vehicle occupied by the three accused.  The two accused passengers pointed at the victim making a gun symbol as if they were going to shoot him.  The victim left the area but was followed by the vehicle with the three accused.  The accused again pulled up beside the victim and the passengers again made gun symbols with their hands threatening the victim.  The victim began to drive away but was cut off by the accused driver who then exited his vehicle, approached the victim and punched him several times in the head before the victim was able to drive away and call police for help.  The victim received non-life threatening injuries.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they were able to locate the accused who were arrested without incident. The accused driver, Peter Dominik Konjevic 37 year old male from Brantford is charged with Assault, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Breach of Probation and Fail to Comply with Recognizance.  Matthew David Davis a 29 year old Canfield male is charged with Uttering Threats to cause Death or Bodily Harm and Breach of Probation.  Shawn Gregory Marriott a 39 year old Brantford male is charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death and Breach of Probation.  All three accused were held for a bail hearing.

Location: Erie Ave and Clarence Street    
Incident:  On Sunday May 27, 2018 just before 8:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen about a suspicious male waving around a knife in the area of Erie Ave and Clarence Street.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located a male dressed all in black with his face covered waving around a large pair of scissors at citizens in the area.  Upon police arrival the suspect fled on foot to a nearby park where Officers were able to arrest him without incident.  A 22 year old Brantford male is charged with Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location: Sympatica Cres
Incident: On Saturday May 26, 2018 just after 1:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a domestic dispute from a residence on Sympatica Cres. The accused had attended to the residence of the 20 year old victim (her ex-boyfriend) and confronted him over their breakup and was trying to retrieve property.  The two engaged in a verbal argument when the accused pick up and smashed property belonging to the victim.  The accused then went to the kitchen and retrieved a knife which she then stated she was going to use to further damage the victim?s property and at one point threatened to stab the victim.   During the altercation the victim used the knife to damage the victims motorcycle parked outside.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the residence where they located the parties involved.  The accused was arrested without incident.  A 19 year old Brantford woman is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Mischief to Property Under $5000.00 x2 and Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location: Easton Road
Incident:  On Saturday May 26, 2018 just before 7:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen about a pile of tools and other equipment found behind a business on Easton Road.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located a number of tools and other items behind the business.  Officers located a male sleeping behind the business and investigation revealed that the items had been stolen.  The items had been stolen from a business and from inside a vehicle on Copernicus Blvd. A 34 year old Brantford male is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.00 and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Street Crime Unit Drug Arrest

On Friday May 25, 2018, members of the Brantford Police Service - Street Crime Unit, BPS - Emergency Response Team, BPS - Community Patrol officers with the assistance of the BPS - Canine Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act Search warrant at a residence on Walnut Street in Brantford. 

Members of the Street Crime Unit commenced a drug investigation which lead them to execute the search warrant.  Officers arrested and charged four people inside the residence.

 

Salloum Hammadi JASSEM a 29 year old male from Brantford is charged with the following:

  • Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of trafficking Cocaine
  • Breach of Probation
  • Breach of Recognizance.

 

Ian Thomas ERSKINE a 30 year old male from Brantford is charged with the following:

  • Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of trafficking Cocaine
  • Breach of Probation

 

Nicole Isobell BALL a 29 year old female from Brantford is charged with the following:

  • Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of trafficking Cocaine

 

Jacob HEINRICHS a 32 year old male from Oxford County is charged with the following:

  • Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of trafficking Cocaine 

During the search of the residence officers seized the following:

  • A large quantity of Cash
  • 82.4 grams of Cocaine with a street value of $8240.00
  • 1.62 grams of Crack Cocaine with a street value of $162.00
  • 56.9 grams of Fentanyl with a street value of $14,000.00
  • A total of $22,400 in drugs was seized

All four accused have been held pending a bail hearing.

Arson Investigation

The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit is currently investigating an arson that occurred on Mohawk St, Brantford.
On May 24, 2018 at approximately 10:15 p.m. Brantford Police Service and Brantford Fire attended Mohawk St near Emilie St for a vehicle fire and disturbance call.   A vehicle parked in a driveway had deliberately been set on fire.  One unknown suspect had fled the area on foot after the chain on his bicycle had fallen off prior to police arrival.

Attempted Robbery with a Gun

The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit is currently investigating an attempted robbery where the owner of a vehicle was approached by two unknown suspects who demanded the keys to the victims vehicle while showing a gun which was concealed in a duffle bag.   
On May 23, 2018 at approximately 10:30 a.m. the victim attended a retail plaza located at Fairview Drive and West Street in Brantford.  The female victim parked her vehicle in the parking lot.   The victim went to get out of her vehicle when she was approached by two suspects.  Suspect #1 instructed her to leave her keys in the ignition and opened up a bag that he was carrying and showed the victim a gun.   Suspect #2 was a female who was with Suspect #1.
The victim locked her vehicle, yelled for help, and ran to a nearby retail establishment.  The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1 ? male, white, 6? tall, skinny, wearing a dark coloured hoodie and blue jeans.   He was carrying a duffle style bag. 
Suspect #2 -  female, white, 5?8? tall, skinny, wearing a red sweater with dark pants.

Brantford Residents Confronted in their Home with a Gun

The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit is currently investigating a home invasion where the residents were confronted by four unknown suspects, one who was armed with a gun. 

On May 22, 2018 at approximately 4:00 a.m. four unknown males forced entry into a home on Terrace Hill Street and confronted the 55 and 53 year old male occupants.  They demanded drugs and one of the suspects was armed with a gun.  The suspects fled the residence on foot.  The victims were not injured and did not require medical treatment.   

The suspects are described as:

Suspect #1 ? male, 5?6?, black hoodie, light blue scarf, jeans and light brown work boots 

Suspect #2 -  male, tall, black hoodie, black scarf, light coloured blue jeans  

Suspect #3 ? male, construction jacket, blue hoodie, dark coloured jeans  

Suspect #4 ? male, dark coloured jacket, dark hoodie, glasses, dark scarf

Crime Brief - May 22, 2018

Incident: 18-18923
Location: Sydenham Street
Incident: On Sunday May 20, 2018 just before 2:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Sydenham Street with no lights on.  Officers observed the vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign before they were able to stop the vehicle.  Officers spoke to the male driver who showed signs of impairment and was arrested without incident.  The driver was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were two times the legal limit.  The driver a 19 year old Brantford male is charged with Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle and Impaired Operation ? Over 80 under the Criminal Code.  He is further charged with Novice Driver ? Blood Alcohol Content over Zero and Driver Motor Vehicle in Contravention of Conditions under the Highway Traffic Act.  The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location: Market Street    
Incident:  On Sunday May 20th 2018 just after 12:30 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about an assault at a residence on Market Street.  The 18 victim had returned to her residence where she found the rear window to her residence had been smashed.  Shortly after returning home the victim was confronted by the accused who had re-attended her residence.  The victim had gone outside to speak to the accused when the accused began to assault her.   The victim was struck a number of times in the head and face causing non-life threatening injuries.  The victim was eventually able to get back inside her residence and call for help while the accused fled the area.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the victim.  The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Investigation revealed that the accused and victim were known to each other and that the accused is bound by court order with conditions.  A 19 year old Brantford woman is charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Mischief to Property Under $5000 and Breach of Probation.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location: Market Street 
Incident: On Sunday May 20, 2018 just after 11:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call from a business on Market Street.  A male had entered into the business and started to cause a disruption for customers and staff.  The staff were dealing with the male and his behavior which was causing customers to leave.  The male had previously been trespassed from the store and was asked to leave by staff but refused.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the business were they located the male.  The male continued to cause a scene and was arrested without incident.  Investigation revealed that the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions. A 43 year old Brantford male is charged with Causing a Disturbance, Common Nuisance and Breach of Probation.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location: Chatham Street
Incident: On Monday May 21, 2018 just after 4:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a truck that had just been broken into on Chatham Street.  Two unknown people were seen inside the vehicle and then going into the rear yard of a residence.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle.  Investigation revealed that the truck had been reported stolen from Hamilton.  Officers searched the area and located one of the suspects at the rear of a residence on Chatham Street.  Information received was the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions as well she was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants from other jurisdictions.  A 31 year old female from Ohsweken is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.00, Trespass At Night and Breach of Probation.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.
