Suspicious Male Attempts to Enter Residence

The Brantford Police Service is investigating after an unknown male tried to break into a residence on Clarence Street early this morning. 

Then Brantford Police Service is currently conducting an investigation into an incident that occurred on Clarence Street this morning at around 3:00 a.m.  An unknown male attended to the front door of the residence and tried to open the door.  The resident observed the male who was holding what appeared to be a large kitchen knife in his hand.  When the male was unable to open the door he walked away and left the area. 

The suspect male is described as a white male, 6’4” to 6’5”tall with a skinny build wearing shorts.  The male was not wearing a shirt and was observed to have a tattoo on his back.

Location:  Grey Street  
Incident:  On Saturday August 24, 2019 at approximately 12:00 p.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling down Grey Street.  The vehicle had been borrowed and not returned to the owner on August 20, 2019.  Officers were able to stop the vehicle as is stopped at a business and arrested the occupants.  While dealing with the male driver he was found to be in possession of brass knuckles and was an unlicensed driver.  While dealing with the female passenger she was found to be in possession methamphetamine, fentanyl and hydromorphone pills.  A further search of the vehicle revealed further quantities of suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, Canadian currency and other drug related paraphernalia.  In total over $3000.00 of methamphetamine, $3000.00 worth of Fentanyl and $250 worth of hydromorphone was located.  As a result of the investigation a 24 year old Brantford male is charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapon under the Criminal Code and Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence under the Highway Traffic Act.  A 28 year old Brantford woman is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3 (methamphetamine, Fentanyl and Hydromorphone) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Incident:    On Saturday August 24, 2019 just after 7:30 p.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Henry Street.  Officers observed one of the vehicles doors open and close as the vehicle was travelling and then make an abrupt stop into a business parking lot.  Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the male driver.  The driver was unable to produce a driver’s licence and information was received that he was a prohibited driver x3.  The driver was also wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant from another jurisdiction.  As a result of the investigation a 34 year old Brantford male was arrested on the outstanding warrant and was charged with Operation Motor Vehicle While Prohibited under the Criminal Code and Drive While Under Suspension x2 under the Highway Traffic Act.

Location:   Charing Cross Street 
Incident:   On Saturday August 24, 2019 just after 11:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service were conducting a R.I.D.E Check on Charing Cross Street.  Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed towards the R.I.D.E Check.  The driver was signaled to slow down and stop but failed to do so and preceded through the R.I.D.E Check.  Officers were able to stop the vehicle and spoke to the female driver and passenger.  Information was received that the licence plates attached to the vehicle had been reported missing/stolen and the validation tag had been reported stolen.  The occupants of the vehicle were arrested.  While dealing with the accused they were found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine ($2500.00), cocaine ($200.00) and hydromorphone pills ($40.00) along with Canadian currency and other drug paraphernalia.  As a result of the investigation a 37 year old Brantford women is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.00 x2 and Obstruct Police under the Criminal Code.  She is also charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3 under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  She is further charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence. Drive Motor Vehicle – No Permit under the Highway Traffic Act and Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.  A 41 year old Brantford woman is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.00 x2 under the Criminal Code.  She is also charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3 under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Location:  Burgess Crescent    
Incident:  On Friday August 23, 2019 just before 11:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call at an address on Burgess Crescent.  A vehicle had just driven by the victim’s residence and shot at and caused damage to their vehicle in the driveway with a BB gun.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the residence where they located the vehicle and the damage.  Investigation revealed that the victim had had an earlier dispute with the suspect who was the one seen driving by and shooting at and causing damage to their vehicle.  Officers were able to locate and arrest the accused without incident and the BB gun was recovered.  A 20 year old Brantford male is charged with Mischief to Property Under $5000.00 and Breach of Recognizance.

Location:  King George Road    
Incident:  On Tuesday August 20, 2019 just after 3:30 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle traveling on King George Road with no lights.  Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the male driver.  While speaking to the driver Officers observed signs of impairment and gave a roadside screening device demand.  The driver failed the roadside screening device and was arrested.  The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over the legal limit.  A 21 year old Kitchener male is charged with 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  He is further charged with Novice Driver Blood Alcohol Concentration – Above Zero and Drive Without Proper Light under the Highway Traffic Act.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:   King George Road
Incident:    On Wednesday August 21, 2019 just after 6:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers were monitoring traffic on King George Road when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.  Officers confirmed the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed over the posted speed limit.  The vehicle was confirmed to be travelling at 151 km/hr in a posted 80 km.hr zone.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.  As a result of the investigation a 22 year old Brantford male is charged with Speeding 151 km.hr in a 80 km.hr zone and Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt under the Highway Traffic Act.  The drivers licence was suspended for 7 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident: On Tuesday August 20, 2019 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a disturbance on Darling Street.  A male and female were seen arguing and when the male tried to leave he was chased down the street by the female.  The female had threatened the male with a can of Bear Spray.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the individuals involved.  The female was arrested without incident.  Information was received that the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions.  A 20 year old Brantford woman is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of Weapons Dangerous and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.

Incident:  On Tuesday August 20, 2019 just before 10:00 p.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle traveling on Dalhousie Street.  Information was received that the vehicle had been reported stolen from another jurisdiction.  Officers observed as the vehicle pulled into a parking lot.  Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the male driver and female passenger.  As Officers dealt with the driver he provided false information to police.  Investigation revealed that the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions as well as he was currently a suspended driver.  The second accused was also found to be bound by a court order with conditions.  As a result of the investigation an 18 year old Brampton male is charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5000, Obstruct Police, Operation While Prohibited, Breach of Probation and Breach of Recognizance under the Criminal Code.  He is also charged with Drive While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.  A 20 year old St Catherines woman is charged with Occupant of Stolen Motor Vehicle and Breach of Recognizance under the Criminal Code.

Location:  Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Henry Street 
Incident:  On Tuesday August 20, 2019 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers dealt with a male on a bicycle in area of Greenwich Street.  Officers spoke to the male who provided information to police.  Investigation revealed that the information provided was false and that he was currently wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.  The accused was arrested without incident.  While dealing with the accused he was found to be in possession of a large amount of suspected fentanyl ($11,000) as well as suspected "green” fentanyl ($1,500) and crystal methamphetamine ($800).  A 38 year old Brantford male was arrested on the outstanding arrest warrant and has been charged with Obstruct Police under the Criminal Code as well as Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Substance x2.

Location:   Colborne Street 
Incident:   On Saturday August 17, 2019 just before 8:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call about a Break and Enter to a residence on Colborne Street.  It was believed that people had broken into a vacant apartment in the complex and were possibly still inside.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the residence where they located damage to the front door.  Officers located and arrested three people inside the residence.  While dealing with the three accused two were found to be in possession of small amounts of fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine and one was currently bound by a court order with conditions.  As a result of the investigation a 37 year Paris male is charged with Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, Mischief Under $5000 under the Criminal Code and Possession of Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances.  A 25 year old Brantford male is charged with Unlawfully in Dwelling House and Mischief Under $5000 under the Criminal Code.  A 36 year old Brantford male is charged with Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, Mischief under $5000 and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.  He is also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Location:   Dalhousie Street 
Incident:   On Saturday August 17, 2019 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call about a hit and run accident on Dalhousie Street.  An unknown driver had side swiped another vehicle and fled the area.  Community Patrol Officers attended and searched the area where they found the vehicle parked on a side street.  The vehicle had previously been reported stolen on August 14, 2019.  Investigation revealed that the male driver had just left the area in a taxi.  Officers were able to locate and stop the taxi where the accused was arrested without incident.  While dealing with the accused he showed signs of impairment and information was received that he was currently bound by two separate court orders with conditions and his licence was currently suspended.  A 35 year old Brantford male is charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession Over $5000, Operation While Impaired, Fail to Stop, Breach of Recognizance and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.  He is also charged with Suspended Drive under the Highway Traffic Act.

Five People Facing Drug Related Charges

Brantford Police Service continues to actively investigate incidents involving illicit drug activity. 

Brantford Police Service has charged three males and two females with drug related offences after an investigation.  

Members of the Brantford Police Service Street Crime Unit entered into a drug investigation at a residence on North Park Street. With the assistence of the Task Force, the Emergency Response Team and Community Patrol Officers a  search warrant was executed at the address on August 14, 2019. During the search of the residence police located a large amount of Fentanyl valued at approximately $11,500.00 as well as Crystal Methamphetamine valued at approximately $350.00 and a large sum of Canadian currency.  Five people were located inside the residence and were arrested.   
As a result of the investigation, three males and two females have been arrested and charged. Three of the accused were held for bail hearings and two others (a 38 year old Paris woman and a 18 year old Brantford male) are facing charges related to the investigation and will appear in court at a later date. 


1. Mark Francis BRAY, 49 years of Brantford is charged with:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
• Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code
• Breach of Recognizance under the Criminal Code
2. Danielle Suzanne CURLEY, 43 years of Brantford is charged with:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl),  under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
3. Jeremy Douglas PORTER, 39 years of Brantford is charged with:
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl),   under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
• Breach of Probation x4 under the Criminal Code

Location:  King George Road  
Incident:  On Monday August 12, 2019 just before 5:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a call regarding a possible impaired driver.   An unknown male had attended a business on King George Road and was refused services due to suspected intoxication.  The male was seen leaving the area in a vehicle.  Community Patrol Officer attended to the area where they located the vehicle a short distance away and performed a traffic stop.  Officers spoke to the male drive who showed signs of impairment and was arrested.  The driver was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over two times the legal limit.  A 31 year old Brantford male is charged with Impaired Operation and 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident:  On Saturday August 10, 2019 just after 5:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a disturbance out front of a business on Henry Street.  An unknown female was out front of the store with a long broom handle and was smashing it off the front windows and other property outside the store.  The female was yelling and screaming at employees and customers that were coming and going from the business.  As the female continued she began to threaten people in the area.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the female.  Officers successfully calmed the female who eventually dropped the broom handle and was arrested after a brief struggle.  Information was received that the female was currently bound by two court orders with conditions.  A 52 year old Brantford woman is charged with Possession of Weapons Dangerous, Cause Disturbance, Utter Threats to Cause Death/Bodily Harm, Assault Police, Breach of Probation and Breach of Recognizance.

Location:   Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Henry Street 
Incident:   On Sunday August 11, 2019 just before 6:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a rear end motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles at Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Henry Street.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the collision and spoke to both drivers.  While speaking to one of the drivers Officers observed signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused refused to provide the required samples.  As a result of the investigation a 46 year old Brantford male is charged with Failure/Refusal to Comply with Breath Demand under the Criminal Code.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:  Alfred Street 
Incident:     On Monday August 12, 2019 at approximately 5:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call about a robbery at a residence on Alfred Street.  Two unknown males wearing masks had broken into the accused apartment stole a number of items and chased him down the street.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the victim who was not injured as a result of the incident.  Investigation revealed that five people were involved in the incident.  Two people broke into the apartment while one person held open the secured access door and two others waited in a vehicle outside.  All five suspects fled the area in the waiting vehicle.  As a result of the investigation a 31 year old Brantford male is charged with Break and Enter, Robbery, Disguise with Intent and Breach of Probation.  A 32 year old Brantford male is charged with Break and Enter, Robbery and Disguise with Intent.  A 27 year old Brantford woman is charged with Break and Enter and Robbery.  A 23 year old Brantford male is charged with Break and Enter and Robbery and a 17 year old Brantford woman is charged with Break and Enter and Robbery all under the Criminal Code.  All accused were held for bail hearings.

Location:  Charing Cross Street  
Incident: On Thursday August 8, 2019 just after 2:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service were in the area of North Park Street and Charing Cross Street when information was received about a suspicious male and female.  Information had been received that the female may be in possession of a firearm.  Community Patrol Officers observed the male leaving the area while the female entered a business on Charing Cross Street.    Officers made contact with the female and investigation revealed that she had placed a firearm into a garbage container inside the business.  Officers recovered a loaded firearm from a garbage container.  Officers arrested the female without incident.  Officers were able to locate and arrest the male.  As a result of the investigation a 41 year old Female and a 42 year old male from Brantford have been charged with Careless Storage of Firearm, Possession of Weapons Dangerous, Carry Concealed Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Possession Weapon Obtained by Crime, Careless Storage x2 (Ammunition and Firearm) and Possession While Prohibited x2 (Ammunition and Firearm).

Location:   Dalhousie Street
Incident:  On Wednesday August 7, 2019 just after 8:00 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a possible impaired driving.  A female was seen hunched over and sleeping in a vehicle that was running in a parking lot at a business on Dalhousie Street.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle and the driver.  Officers observed the female drivers slouched over in the driver’s seat and observed suspected drugs in her lap.  Officers were able to wake and spoke to the female driver.  While dealing with the driver she showed signs of impairment and was found to be in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine (value $200) and was arrested.  The accused was transported in order to perform a Drug Recognition Evaluation.  As a result of the evaluation the accused was charged.  A 35 year old Hagersville woman is charged with Operation While Impaired – Drug under the Criminal Code and is also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs Substances Act.  The accused licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location:  Charing Cross Street 
Incident: On Wednesday August 7, 2019 just after 10:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on Charing Cross Street.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle.  They spoke to the lone female occupant.  Officers dealt with the female who provided information to police.  Investigation revealed that the information provided was false and that the female was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for her arrest.  Further investigation revealed that he female was in possession of a number of identity and bank documents that had previously been reported stolen.   She was also found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine.  As a result of the investigation a 30 year old Brantford woman was arrested on the outstanding warrant and has been further charged with Obstruct Police, Possess Identity Documents x7, and Possess Stolen Credit Card under the Criminal Code.  She is also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (crystal methamphetamine) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Incident:      On Tuesday August 6, 2019 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a disturbance at a motel on Colborne Street.  Four unknown parties attended to the motel and attempted to gain entry to one of the rooms.  When they were unsuccessful in gaining entry, two of them smashed the front window.  All four fled the area on foot to a car that was waiting around the corner.  Community Patrol Officers were provided with a description of the vehicle and located it a short distance away.  When Officers attempted to stop the vehicle it fled away at a high rate of speed. Due to concern for public safety Officers did not pursue the vehicle.  Officers were able to locate the vehicle a short time later.  When Officers arrived the driver fled the vehicle on foot and was arrested without incident a short distance away.  The other three occupants were arrested without incident.  Investigation revealed that the driver was currently a suspended driver, that one accused was currently wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants and the other accused were currently bound by court orders with conditions.  As a result of the investigation a 36 year old Brantford male is charged with Flight From Police, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Mischief Under $5000 and Disobey Court Order under the Criminal Code.  He is also charged with Drive While Under Suspension x2 under the Highway Traffic Act.  A 25 year old Brantford woman was arrested on outstanding arrest warrants and is charged with Mischief Under $5000 and Breach of Recognizance.  A 25 year old Brantford male is charged with Mischief Under $5000 and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.  A 26 year old Brantford woman is charged with Mischief Under $5000 under the Criminal Code.

Location:  Lynden Road at Wayne Gretzky Parkway 
Incident:  On Wednesday August 7, 2019 just after 1:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Lynden Road approaching Wayne Gretzky Parkway. The vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed and then failed to stop for a red light at a controlled intersection.  Officers performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke to the male driver.  While dealing with the driver he showed signs of impairment and was given a demand for a roadside screening device.  The driver registered a fail and was arrested.  The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were over the legal limit.  A 22 year old Brant County male has been charged with 80 Plus under the Criminal Code.  The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Incident:       On Monday August 5, 2019 at approximately 10:30 a.m. Brantford Police Service responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot of a business on King George Road.  An unknown female was observed sleeping in the vehicle.  Information was received that the licence plates on the vehicle had been previously reported stolen.  Community Patrol Officers attended and located the vehicle and the female inside.  While speaking to the female she provided information that upon investigation was determined to be false.  Further investigation revealed that the female was currently wanted on a number of outstanding arrest warrants.  During the investigation it was determined that the licence plates had been previously reported stolen from another jurisdiction but that the vehicle had also been reported stolen from the Brantford area.  Located inside the vehicle were various forms of stolen identification and other items.  As a result of the investigation a 22 year old Brantford woman was arrested on the outstanding warrants and is further charged with Obstruct Police, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 x11, Possess Identity Documents x5 and Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code.

Incident: On Monday August 5, 2019 just before 3:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a call about a possible impaired driver on King George Road.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where they located the vehicle as it was travelling on King George Road and out to Highway 24.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.  Officers observed signs of impairment and observed open alcohol in the vehicles cup holders.  The driver was given a demand for an approved roadside screening device. The driver registered a fail and was arrested.  The accused was transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused samples were two times the legal limit.  Information was received that the drivers licence was currently under suspension.  As a result of the investigation a 22 year old Waterloo male is charged with 80 Plus under the Criminal Code as well as Drive While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.  The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
