BPS continue suspicious fire investigations, seek suspect information
The Brantford Police Service are continuing to
investigate a number of suspicious fires, dating back to January 2022 and are
seeking additional suspect information from the public.
Police are asking any members of the public who reside close to the location of any of the incidents, and who have not already done so, to review any video surveillance footage which may have captured the suspects responsible for these fires.
Police have reason to believe the fires were deliberately set and have been working to identify suspects seen in the area. All of the fires were quickly controlled and resulted in minor property damage. No physical injuries occurred as a result of the fires.
Police are asking homeowners and business owners in these areas to review their video surveillance equipment for the following dates and locations for any video that may assist in these investigations.
Below is a list of occurrences currently under investigation.

CRIME BRIEF: April 28, 2022
Type: Break & Enter
Incident: 22-15853
Location: Grey Street
On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service received a call regarding a break and enter in progress at a fenced compound located on Grey Street.
The accused is reported to have illegally entered the compound and proceeded to then enter multiple parked motor vehicles.
Officers attended and located the accused inside a vehicle within the compound.
The accused was placed under arrest for the offence of break and enter with intent. At this time, it was determined that the accused had provided a false name and date of birth to the officers.
Investigation revealed that the accused was wanted by two neighbouring police services on outstanding arrest warrants.
As a result, the accused, Brenden DESHAIES, 23, of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Break, enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence
- Obstruct a Peace Officer
The accused was held for bail.

Incident: 22-15403
Location: Icomm Drive
On Saturday April 23, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a parking garage located on Icomm Drive regarding a theft investigation.
While enroute, police received information that the victim, a 24-year-old male, located and confronted the accused who was found inside the victim’s vehicle in possession of two skateboards.
Officers arrived on scene, arrested, and charged a 48-year-old man from Brantford, (No Fixed Address), with one count of Theft Under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code.

Incident: 22-15325
Location: Forest Street
On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call to report a motor vehicle collision which had just occurred on Forest Street.
Investigation revealed that a motor vehicle travelling east-bound on Forest Street, had allegedly lost control, struck a parked vehicle, then mounted the curb before side-swiping a tree and coming to rest in the driveway of a Forest Street residence.
Significant damage to both the parked vehicle and the vehicle the accused was driving had occurred.
Officers arrived on scene and in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment.
The accused was subsequently arrested for Operation While Impaired and was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.
Both samples provided were over the legal limit.
As a result, a 25-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle towed.

Incident: 22-15310
Location: Dalhousie Street
On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service who were on general patrol, driving westbound on Dalhousie Street observed a vehicle travelling the wrong way on Dalhousie Street. Dalhousie Street is a one-way road.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and, in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment. Additionally, open containers of liquor were located in the vehicle and the permit for the vehicle was found to be expired.
After failing the Approved Roadside Screening, the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to provide suitable samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 29-year-old man from Tillsonburg, stands charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act
- Driver Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence was seized and suspended for ninety days.
Type: Impaired - Alcohol
Incident: 22-15137
Location: West Street
On Friday, April 22, 2022, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the area of West Street and Wadsworth Street, for a possible impaired driver.
Police attended the area, located the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop.
In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and an open bottle of alcohol within reach of the driver.
The accused was found to be driving in violation of a licence suspension.
While in the police cruiser, the accused was physically ill. As a safety precaution Emergency Medical Services attended to evaluate the accused.
The accused was subsequently arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 22-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code
- 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code
- Drive while under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence was suspended for an additional ninety days.
Type: Impaired – Dangerous Operation
Incident: 22-15006
Location: Park Avenue
On Thursday, April 21, 2022, at approximately 7:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a single motor vehicle collision, where the vehicle had struck a house located on Park Avenue.
Investigation revealed that the vehicle had failed to stop at a nearby stop sign and struck the home, landing on its side.
The home and vehicle sustained significant damage as a result of the collision. No-one within the home sustained any physical injuries.
Officers arriving on scene observed signs of impairment when speaking with the driver of the vehicle.
The driver was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The male passenger of the vehicle did not receive any physical injuries as a result of the incident.
As a result of the investigation, Charnell FOLLAND, a 33-year-old female from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Operation while Impaired
- Dangerous Operation
Search incident to arrest, found the accused to be in possession of the following:
- Approximately 4.3 grams of suspected heroin
- Approximately 3.12 grams of suspected fentanyl
- Identification which was previously reported as stolen
- Replica firearms
As a result, the accused also stands charged with the following violations:
- Possession Schedule 1, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and
- Possession of Stolen Goods Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code.
Type: Impaired - Alcohol
Incident: 22-14996
Location: Colborne Street West
On Thursday, April 21, 2022, at approximately 3:45 a.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, swerving into oncoming traffic in the area of Colborne Street West and Welsh Street.
A traffic stop was conducted and in speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
After failing the Approved Roadside Screening, the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation, Blood Alcohol Concentration and was transported to provide suitable samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over the legal limit.
Information was received to indicate that the accused was a G2 level driver and in violation of the terms of the licence.
As a result, a 24-year-old man from Brant County stands charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Novice Drive – Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.
Type: Assault
Incident: 22-14952
Location: Icomm Drive
On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the skate park on Icomm Drive in regard to an assault.
Initial information was received that a 25-year-old male victim had been stabbed in the neck and the assailant had fled on foot.
Upon police arrival, the victim was receiving treatment by Emergency Medical Services for a laceration to the back of the head and was transported to hospital for further treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police investigation determined the identity of the accused. Information was received to confirm a knife was used by the accused during the altercation.
Officers located the accused nearby and, as a result of the investigation, Dominic John Anthony LOWE, 25, of Brantford, stands charged for the following Criminal Code offences:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering threats to cause Death or Bodily Harm
The accused was held for bail.

Incident: 22-14811
Location: Glenwood Drive
On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at approximately 11:05 p.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle travelling in an erratic manner on Mary Street.
To determine sobriety of the driver, officers conducted a traffic stop on Glenwood Drive.
In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.
The accused was arrested for Operation while Impaired and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.
Both samples provided were over three times the legal limit.
As result, a 45-year-old woman from Brantford stands charged with:
- Operation with over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle towed.
Type: Utter Threats / Weapon
Incident: 22-14695
Location: Icomm Drive
On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a parking garage on Icomm Drive after a 25-year-old female was threatened with what she believed was a firearm.
The accused is alleged to have had uttered threats after startling the victim as she exited the elevator by pointing a piece of metal in the shape of a firearm at her in a threatening manner.
The victim did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of the incident.
Officers attended and located the accused who was found to be in violation of a valid probation order.
As a result, David Scott Hill, 29, of Brantford (No Fixed Address) stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Utter Threats
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Breach of Probation Order
Over $171,000 of illegal drugs seized, 43-year-old Brantford man arrested in BPS TIGER Unit Investigation
Inc. # 22-15950
On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, members of the Brantford Police Service Tactical Intelligence Generating Enforcement and Response Unit (TIGER) completed a drug trafficking investigation.
As a result of the investigation, two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrants were obtained and executed at addresses located on Colborne Street and Market Street.
The search warrants were executed with the assistance of the Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team and Brantford Police Uniform Patrol Officers.
As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old Brantford man was arrested. The following illicit drugs and items were located on his person:
- Approximately 46.6 grams of suspected Fentanyl
- Approximately 1.1 grams of suspected Methamphetamine
- Approximately 33 pills of suspected Xanax
- Approximately 44 pills of suspected Hydromorphone
- Large quantity of Canadian Currency
- Digital scale and drug packaging materials
The seized illicit drugs found on his person have an estimated street value of $19,800.
As a result of the search warrants, officers seized the following:
- Approximately 1,018 grams of suspected methamphetamine
- 20 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition
- 15 rounds of 22-25 rifle cartridges
- 2 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition
The estimated street value of the illicit drugs seized as a result of the search warrants is $151,275.
As a result of the investigation, Matthew TAYLOR, 43, of Brantford, stands charged with the following:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking x 3, contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
- Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
- Fail to comply with Probation contrary to the Criminal Code
- Fail to comply with Judicial Release Order contrary to the Criminal Code
- Driving while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
The accused has been held for bail.

Two men arrested, $26,500 of illegal drugs seized in BPS TIGER Unit Investigation
Inc. # 22-15012
On Thursday, April 21, 2022, members of the Brantford Police Service Tactical Intelligence Generating Enforcement and Response Unit (TIGER) completed a drug trafficking investigation.
As a result of the investigation, three Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrants were obtained and executed at addresses located on Clarence Street and Diana Avenue, as well as a vehicle which was associated to the investigation. The search warrants were executed with the assistance of the Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team.
Following the search, officers seized the following:
- Sawed off air rifle
- Drug packaging and Digital Scales
- Canadian currency
- Approximately 36.6 grams of suspected Methamphetamine
- Approximately 99.6 grams of suspected Cocaine
- Approximately 45.2 grams of suspected Fentanyl
- 13 Tablets of suspected Hydromorphone
The estimated total street value of the illicit drugs seized is $26,515.
As a result of this investigation, Terence Dwaine JOHNSON, 34, and Richard Edward GREENTREE, 47, both of Brantford, each stand charged with the following:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking x4, contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
The accused have been held for bail.

Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Blitz pulls 25 unsafe vehicles from the road, charges dozens more
In collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and the Ontario Provincial Police, the Brantford Police Service Traffic Unit conducted commercial motor vehicle inspections in Brantford, April 20 and 21, 2022.
As a result of this safety initiative, 62 commercial motor vehicles were inspected and the following infractions were found:
- Vehicles pulled from service due to safety infractions: 25
- Vehicles requiring maintenance: 10
- Vehicles requiring annual inspection: 4
- Vehicles requiring daily inspection: 6
- Vehicles with improper cargo securement: 3
- Vehicles with contraband investigations: 3
- Vehicles with other infractions: 25
The Brantford Police Service is committed to increasing public compliance with safe driving in order to prevent collisions, save lives, and reduce injuries on our roads.
CRIME BRIEF: April 21, 2022
Type: Impaired - Alcohol
Incident: 22-14398
Location: King George Road
On April 16, 2022, patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service were conducting speed enforcement in the area of King George Road and Varadi Avenue when a vehicle was recorded travelling at 86 km/hr. in a 50km/hr. zone.
A traffic stop was conducted, and officers observed signs of intoxication when speaking with the driver.
The driver submitted to a roadside breathalyzer test demand, which he failed.
At this point the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.
Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.
Additionally, the accused was unable to produce a valid insurance card for the vehicle.
As a result, a 27-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with Operation while Impaired and 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code.
The accused was also charged with Speeding, 86 km/hr and 50 km/hr zone contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Operate motor vehicle without insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle towed.

Incident: 22-14347
Location: Dalhousie Street
On Saturday, April 16, 2022, at approximately 5:40 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an assault that had occurred within a business located at Dalhousie Street and King Street.
A man had entered the business however, he had previously been removed from the location and was not welcome to return due to disruptive behaviour. When a staff member approached the accused and asked him to leave, he proceeded to assault the victim, a 40-year-old female. A concerned citizen provided assistance, removing the accused from the business.
At the time of the occurrence, it was determined that the accused was in violation of four valid probation orders.
Officers attended, located the accused, and as a result of this incident, Ansel Kipp MCNEIL, 32, of Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

•Breach of Probation- x 4
Type: Impaired - Alcohol
Incident: 22-14346
Location: Dundas Street East
On Saturday, April 16, 2022, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Dundas Street East.
Officers attended, located the vehicle, and in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment.
The driver submitted to a roadside breathalyzer test demand, which she failed. At this point the accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.
Both samples provided were over the legal limit.
As a result of this investigation, a 26-year-old female of Brantford, stands charged with:
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration contrary to the Criminal Code
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended and the vehicle towed.
Type: Sexual Assault
Incident: 22-14124
On Thursday, April 14, 2022, officers with the Brantford Police Service received a report that the victim, a 16-year-old female was sexually assaulted and threatened by the accused – a 44-year-old man from Brantford.
On Saturday, April 9, 2022, the accused is reported to have sexually assaulted the victim within his residence. Additionally, the accused threatened to physically assault the victim’s boyfriend.
After investigation, officers with the Brantford Police Service attended the residence of the accused on Friday, April 15, 2022. The accused answered the door, wielding a hatchet. Officers observed a substance which appeared to be cocaine (approx. 1.2 grams) in clear view.
As a result of this investigation, a 44-year-old man from Brantford was arrested and stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Sexual Assault
- Theft Under $5000
- Utter Threats to cause Bodily Harm
- Possession of Controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Please note: the name of the accused has been withheld from release to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused was held for bail.
Type: Assault
Incident: 22-13699
Location: Nelson Street
On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an assault occurring at a Nelson Street location.
Information was received to indicate that a verbal altercation had occurred between the accused male and three male victims (ages 16, 17 and 47).
The accused is alleged to have approached the first victim (16-year-old male), striking him in the face. Having witnessed the attack, a second male (17-year-old) came to the assistance of the first, pushing the accused off the victim, who then ran for help. The accused then physically assaulted the second male and brandished a screwdriver.
A third victim (47-year-old male), came to the assistance of the others, interacting with the accused.
At this point, the accused verbally threatened the victims and fled area on foot, travelling south on Park Avenue.
The accused was located and arrested by officers in the area of Colborne Street and Park Avenue at 12:25 a.m.
Minor physical injuries were sustained by the victims who did not seek medical attention.
Information received indicated that the accused was in violation of a valid release order and a valid probation order.
As a result of the investigation, Jason Anthony LAFORME, 43 of Brantford (No Fixed Address,) stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Assault x 2
- Possess weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Utter threat to cause death
- Breach of Judicial Release
- Breach of Probation
Type: Theft, Assault
Incident: 22-13761
Location: Victoria Street
On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a dispute at a Victoria Street residence.
It was reported that an argument occurred between the victim, a 57-year-old female, and the accused, a 51-year-old man.
During the dispute, the accused left for a brief period of time and then returned, when it is alleged that he removed the door to the unit and became physically aggressive with the victim.
The accused then allegedly threatened the victim before leaving with the victim’s cell phone and the door.
As a result, Kirk SKATER, 51, of Harley, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Theft Under x 2
- Break Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
- Assault
- Intimidation - Use Violence
An arrest warrant for the accused was issued. The accused was arrested by officers on April 13, 2022.

Incident: 22-13433
Location: Colborne Street
On Saturday April 9, 2022, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of an assault that had occurred at a Colborne Street bar.
It was reported that after two men were refused service and asked to leave the establishment by an employee, they proceeded to physically assault the employee, a 49-year-old male victim.
The victim sustained minor physical injuries.
Information was received to advise that at the time of the occurrence one of the accused men was in violation of two valid probation orders.
As a result of the incident, Carl Andrew Richard HILL, 30 of Hagersville, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Assault
- Breach Probation x 2
And Lyle Alexander HILL, 30, of Brantford, currently stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Assault
Type: Impaired, Mischief
Incident: 22-13395
Location: Veterans’ Memorial Parkway
On Saturday, April 9, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an incident involving two drivers at a location near Blackburn Drive and Veterans Memorial Parkway.
It was reported that the female victim was driving her vehicle along Veterans Memorial Parkway and the accused was operating a second motor vehicle, driving behind her.
When both vehicles reached a stop near Mount Pleasant Street, the accused is reported to have got out of his vehicle and punched the victim’s front passenger window, causing it to shatter. The accused then returned to his vehicle and proceeded to drive away.
The victim followed the accused in her vehicle and contacted police.
Officers arrived on scene, locating both vehicles stopped at the intersection of Blackburn Drive and Veterans Memorial Parkway.
Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of intoxication. A roadside screening device was administered, which he failed.
The accused was then transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 43-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Operation While Impaired
- 80 Plus
- Mischief Under $5000
Additionally, the drivers licence of the accused was suspended and the vehicle impounded as required by law.

Location: Darling Street and Queen Street
On Tuesday April 5, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., while on routine patrol, officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a female seated on the sidewalk at Darling Street and Queen Street preparing to inject herself with what appeared to be illegal narcotics.
Officers approached the accused, who became confrontational with officers.
The accused was then placed under arrest and search incident to arrest located a small amount of suspected fentanyl.
As a result, a 33-year-old female of Brantford (No Fixed Address), stands charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Location: King George Road
On Saturday April 2, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service conducted a traffic stop at 300 King George Road after observing a vehicle speeding excessively on King George Road.
Officers observed the subject vehicle travelling in an aggressive manner, at an excessive rate of speed, over 100 km/hr, northbound on King George Road. This is a posted 50 km/hour zone.
In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and a roadside screening demand was utilized, which the driver failed.
The driver was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over the legal limit.
Additionally, information received indicated the accused was bound by the restrictions of a G2 Ontario drivers’ license and the accused was unable to provide proof of insurance as required by law.
Search incident to arrest located an unopened alcoholic beverage in the cupholder as well as various cannabis products, all within reach of the driver.
As a result, a 21-year-old male from Scotland, stands charged with the following:
- Over 80mg contrary to the Criminal Code
- Contravene license condition - driving ability contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act
- Novice Driver - BAC above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Failed to surrender Insurance Card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
Additionally, the accused was served a 90-day (ADLS) Administrative Drivers License Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded.

Location: Dalhousie Street
On Friday, April 1, 2022, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to respond to an assault that had occurred at a Dalhousie Street location.
A verbal dispute turned physical, when a 44-year-old female physically assaulted a 72-year-old male victim.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Christine VANBLYDERVEEN, 44, of Brantford, stands charged with Assault contrary to the Criminal Code.
Ten Charged, $205,000 in Illegal Narcotics Seized in Joint Forces Investigation Project Carbon Copy
Through funding provided by the Government of Ontario and supported by the Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario, joint forces investigation Project Carbon Copy was responsible for the arrests of ten individuals and the seizure of a large quantity of illegal narcotics and currency.
Led by the Brantford Police Service, with assistance from Haldimand Norfolk County OPP and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, Project Carbon Copy was initiated in October 2021, and focused on dismantling an organized crime group distributing large quantities of fentanyl from Southern Ontario to the northern regions of Ontario.
On April 14, 2022, members of the Brantford Police Service received judicial authorization to search five separate residences and a motor vehicle.
Just after midnight on April 14, 2022, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service initiated a traffic stop on a rental vehicle as it entered into the City of Sault Ste. Marie. Police arrested the four occupants of the motor vehicle, and a subsequent search revealed twelve ounces of suspected fentanyl with a street value of $168,000 concealed within the vehicle.
As a result of the traffic stop in Sault Ste. Marie, the following individuals stand charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose to traffic, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:
Skyler BEAL, 26 years of age from Brantford, Ontario.
Jamal GOMES, 19 years of age from Brantford, Ontario.
Alexis ROSEBRUGH, 21 years of age from St. George, Ontario.
Drew PYNE, 23 years of age from Brantford, Ontario.
Moments after the arrest of the four individuals listed above, the involved police services simultaneously executed five search warrants.
Within a Caledonia residence located on Arnold Marshall Drive, Haldimand Norfolk OPP officers located approximately $45,000 in Canadian currency concealed within a wall of the residence. As a result of the investigation and subsequent search, 26-year-old Edison BEAL was charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose to traffic, trafficking in a controlled substance, and possession of the proceeds of crime.
The Brantford Police Service also searched a Darling Street apartment and located material related to cooking fentanyl.
A third residence associated to Project Carbon Copy, located on Pearl Street, Brantford, was also searched by officers with the Brantford Police Service.
Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service executed a search warrant at a Queen Street West apartment in Sault Ste Marie. At this location police located quantities of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine and two canisters of oleoresin capsicum (OC spray).
As a result of this search, 43-year-old Shawn SAUNDERS, of Sault Ste. Marie, stands charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a controlled substance X 4
- Possession of a weapon contrary to an order X 2
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon X 2
- Breach of probation
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service also searched an adjoining Queen Street West apartment where officers located a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, fentanyl, and crystal methamphetamine within the residence. Shannon MORIN, of Sault Ste. Marie, stands charged with possession of a controlled substance X 3.
As a result of the project, police seized $205,000 worth of illegal substances and charged ten people with drug related offences.
Project Carbon Copy will help to minimize the threat to our communities caused by the distribution of controlled substances including synthetic opioids. By disrupting the operation of criminal networks, our goal is to assist our communities by reducing the violence surrounding the trade of illicit substances.
The success of this operation can be attributed to the outstanding collaboration of policing partners and agencies, Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario, Brantford Police Services, Ontario Provincial Police, and Sault Ste Marie Police Services.

Seven suspected stolen vehicles recovered from Mohawk Lake

Seven suspected stolen vehicles have been retrieved from Mohawk Lake, with initial investigation finding no involvement with any other crime.
On Friday, April 8, 2022, Brantford Police Service officers with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police Dive Team recovered seven vehicles located submerged in Mohawk Lake.
Initial investigation found no evidence to suspect these vehicles were involved with any other crime.
This is being treated as a property crime investigation, as many of the vehicles are believed to be stolen.
All recovered vehicles were 1970’s models and have sustained significant damage as a result of being submerged in the water for what appears to be an extended period of time. The recovered vehicles are as follows:

BPS seek suspect information in stabbing

Investigators with the Branford Police Service are investigating a stabbing and seek suspect information from the public.
On Monday, April 11, 2022, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a residence located near Colborne Street and Peel Street after receiving a report of a stabbing.
Officers attended and located a male victim who had sustained multiple stab wounds.
The victim was transported to hospital where he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are looking for two male suspects, who were reported to have been wearing all black clothing and masks covering their faces. The suspects fled the scene on foot. A detailed description of the suspects is not available at this time.
Officers have reason to believe this may be a targeted attack and do not feel this incident poses a threat to public safety.
Police are currently seeking any information that may lead to identifying the suspects.

13-year-old Young Offender receives assault and weapons charges after disturbance at theatre

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a 13-year-old male, along with three other youth, engaged in disruptive and threatening behaviour within a theatre on King George Road.
Officers received a report to advise the accused was in possession of a knife and was causing a disturbance. The accused was reported to have verbally threatened and was assaultive towards a 37-year-old male victim, who was subjected to having the knife gestured towards him.
The knife was observed being handled recklessly by the accused who was reported to have waved it towards the victim and multiple persons within the premise. A toy gun was also utilized and observed during the disturbance. No physical injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Once a call was placed to police, the four youth fled the scene on foot.
Officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to the scene. The accused was identified, located, and arrested Sunday, April 10, 2022.
As a result of the investigation, a 13-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Cause disturbance
Please note, as the accused is a young offender, the identity of the accused will not be released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
