Brantford police investigate sexual assault, seek information from public

Brantford police are investigating a sexual assault and are seeking information from the public to help identify two persons of interest.
On Monday, September 16, 2024, between 6:30 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., a female reported she was sexually assaulted by two unknown men while in the area of the D’Aubigny trail near the Ballantyne Drive boat launch.
The suspect’s descriptions are not available.

BPS Charge 5-year Member of Brantford Police Service
A 5-year-member of the Brantford Police Service was charged by the Brantford Police Service, March 8, 2023.
An investigation by Brantford Police Officers into the officer’s conduct related to a September 21, 2022, incident as a result of the investigation, the member stands charged with Obstructing Justice, contrary to Section 139 (2) of the Criminal Code.
A court appearance has been scheduled for November 19, 2024, in Brantford.
The member has been suspended from duty since October 28, 2022. This suspension remains in effect pending the outcome of the Criminal Court process.
This alleged incident is not reflective of the values of the Brantford Police Service. At the core of the Brantford Police Service is a team of dedicated sworn and civilian members who provide professional service to our community and demonstrate a strong moral compass based on trust, dignity, and respect.
Charges laid in organized renovation and mortgage fraud that defrauded senior $374,000

Through a joint investigation by Brantford Police Services and Waterloo Regional Police Services, four suspects have been arrested and charged with an organized renovation and mortgage fraud targeting a vulnerable senior residing in Brantford resulting in the loss of her home.
The incident occurred between 2021 and 2022, resulting in four predatory mortgages, ultimately leading to mortgage enforcement of the home in January of 2024. The suspects are accused of defrauding the victim of approximately $374,000.
As a result of the joint investigation, the following individuals have been arrested and charged as follows:
- A 29-year-old male from Oakville, a 34-year-old male from Hamilton and a 60-year-old female from Toronto each stand charged with one count of Fraud, over $5,000 and Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code, and
- A 39-year-old man from Brampton stands charged with one count of Swearing Purported Affidavit, contrary to the Criminal Code.
Police would like to remind citizens to be wary of unsolicited people knocking at your door and use caution when asked to sign any documents that you are unsure of. We would also like to take this opportunity to issue a reminder to check on vulnerable seniors in the community to help protect them against fraudsters attempting to take advantage of vulnerable persons.

Man arrested, charged with multiple firearm and drug offences as a result of BPS TIGER and HEAT investigation

Members of the Brantford Police Service High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) and the Brantford Police Service Tactical Intelligence Generated Enforcement and Response Unit (TIGER) conducted a drug trafficking investigation and have arrested and charged a 43-year-old Oakland man with multiple offences.
On September 5, 2024, members of the Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team (ERT) and K9 Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a Sheridan Street residence.
During the search of the residence, officers located the following:
- A loaded 9mm handgun
- A 20-guage shotgun
- A 22-250 rifle
- Approximately 143.4 grams of suspected Cocaine
- Approximately 39.8 grams of suspected Fentanyl
- A large amount of Canadian Currency
- Packaging and other materials consistent with drug trafficking

At the time of the search, the suspect was bound by a firearm prohibition order stemming from previous Criminal Code convictions.
As a result of this investigation, a 43-year-old man from Oakland, was arrested, held for bail, and stands charged with the following:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm x 3
- Careless storage of firearm x 3
- Possession of Firearm contrary to prohibition order x 3
- Possession prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Tampering with a firearm’s serial number

Brantford man arrested, charged with firearm and drug trafficking offences as a result of BPS HEAT and TIGER investigation

Members of the Brantford Police Service High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) and the Brantford Police Service Tactical Intelligence Generated Enforcement and Response Unit (TIGER) conducted a drug trafficking investigation and have arrested and charged a 43-year-old Brantford man with multiple offences.
As a result of the investigation, the suspect was arrested on August 28, 2024, at a Wayne Gretzky Parkway location. Members of the Brantford Police Service were granted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant which was executed August 28, 2024, at a Granka Street residence.
During the search of the residence, officers located the following:
- A loaded handgun
- Firearm magazine, loaded with ammunition
- Additional ammunition
- Approximately 145 grams of suspected MDMA/Ecstasy
- Approximately 155 grams of suspected Cocaine
- A large amount of Canadian Currency
The approximate street value of the MDMA/Ecstasy, when trafficked by the gram is $14,360. The approximate street value of the Cocaine when trafficked by the gram is approximately $15,490. The total value of illegal drugs seized is $29,850.
At the time of the search, the suspect was bound by two firearm prohibition orders.
As a result of this investigation, a 43-year-old man from Brantford, was arrested, held for bail and stands charged with the following:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, MDMS/Ecstasy, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession for the purpose of Trafficking, Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Possession of a prohibited device, firearm magazine, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Possession of a firearm contrary to Order, contrary to the Criminal Code x2
- Careless storage of firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Possession of a restricted firearm with Ammunition, contrary to the Criminal Code

Brantford police are investigating the robbery of a gas station and are seeking information from the public to help identify the suspect.
On Friday, August 23, 2024, at approximately 5:25 a.m., members of the Brantford Police Service responded to a report of a robbery of a gas station located at Colborne Street West near Oak Street.
Information was received to indicate one male suspect entered the business with his face concealed and demanded cash from the store employee. The suspect obtained a small amount of cash and fled the scene on foot.
Physical injuries were not reported as a result of the incident.
The suspect remains outstanding and is described as follows:
•Male, white, wearing a black zip-up hoodie, red face covering, black Air Jordan backpack with grey logo, black and white mitten style gloves with yin and yang symbols, dark jeans and black shoes.
The investigation is ongoing.

BPS Launch Back-to-School Road Safety Blitz
With the first day of school quickly approaching, the Brantford Police Service Traffic Unit will launch a Back-to-School Road Safety Blitz, looking for aggressive drivers, persons speeding, distracted drivers, and to conduct stop sign enforcement during the month of September.
As kids return to school, we ask everyone to be extra careful on our city streets, as children may not pay attention to the rules of the roads or watch for moving cars. We would like to remind motorists and pedestrians the importance of working together to ensure our roads remain a safe place.
At this time, we would also like to remind drivers of the penalties for Stunt Driving under the Highway Traffic Act. If you are travelling 40km/hr over the posted speed limit in speed zones below 80 km/hr, you will be charged with Stunt Driving.
In addition to fees and demerit points, a driver charged with Stunt Driving will now receive a 30-day driver licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.
Motorists are also reminded to use caution around school buses. When a school bus has stopped and activated its flashing red lights, all vehicles travelling behind or approaching the bus must come to a complete stop before reaching the bus. Drivers who fail to stop in these conditions face a minimum $400 fine and six demerit points for a first offence. If a vehicle is identified to fail for a school bus the registered owner can also receive a $400 fine.
Parents are encouraged to review and practice safety rules with their children to ensure they are familiar with their route to the bus or school.
We urge motorists and pedestrians to commute safely, free from distractions and to use extra caution when travelling through residential areas, school zones and along bus routes. Please slow down and be alert for children travelling to and from school. Community safety is a shared responsibility.

Wanted man arrested, charged with numerous firearm and drug trafficking offences as a result of BPS HEAT and TIGER investigation

Members of the Brantford Police Service High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) and the Brantford Police Service Tactical Intelligence Generated Enforcement and Response Unit conducted an investigation to locate and arrest a 23-year-old Brantford man wanted for multiple offences.
As a result of the investigation, members of the Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team and the BPS K-9 Unit arrested the man in the area of Colborne Street and King Street on August 14, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Search incident to arrest located the following items in his possession:
- Loaded handgun (concealed on the suspect)
- Approximately 79 grams of suspected Fentanyl
- A digital scale
- Canadian Currency
- Multiple cell phones
Additionally, a 33-year-old female resident of Brantford resident was also arrested on the strength of an existing warrant. Search incident to arrest located the following items in her possession:
- Approximately 34.9 grams of suspected Fentanyl
- Approximately 10.7 grams of suspected Cocaine
- Approximately 4.6 grams of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine
- Canadian Currency
- Drug packaging
The total estimated street value of the illicit drugs seized by investigators is approximately $24,410

As a result of the investigation, the 23-year-old male resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code violations:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking, Fentanyl
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Concealed possession of a loaded firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device, firearm magazine
- Possession of a prohibited firearm, with ammunition
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
The male suspect was also wanted by a neighbouring jurisdiction for a number of firearm offences.
The 33-year-old female resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act violations:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking, Fentanyl
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking, Cocaine
- Possession of an illicit substance, Methamphetamine
Both of the accused were held for bail.

Andrew is described as male, white, 5’10”, 175lbs., with thinning salt and pepper hair worn in a ponytail.
He was last seen by family April 2024. Andrew was reported as missing to police August 4, 2024.
The Brantford Police Service are seeking assistance from anyone who may have information which may assist in locating the missing person.

BPS investigate home invasion, seek public information

The Brantford Police Service are investigating a home invasion and are seeking additional suspect information from the public.
On Thursday, August 1, 2024, at approximately 1:25 A.M., it is reported that three armed male suspects entered a Bilanski Farm Road residence, threatened those within the home in an attempt to obtain money before fleeing the residence. The suspects were reported to have been wearing ski masks.
Multiple residents were within the home at the time of the incident. No physical injuries were reported. Police have reason to believe that this was a targeted incident. There is no threat to public safety as a direct result of this occurrence.
Police are asking any members of the public who reside close to or were near the location of the incident, and who have not already done so, to review any video surveillance footage which may have captured the suspects.
