UPDATE - Suspicious Death

Location: St. Paul Avenue/Terrace Hill Street, Brantford
Incident: On January 1, 2018 at approximately 5:35 p.m., the Brantford Police responded to the Brantford General Hospital concerning an adult male victim who had suffered life threatening gunshot injuries. The male victim, Jeffrey Ronald MAXNER, 34yrs of Brantford died as a result of those injuries.
Brantford Police Service does not believe that this was a random act, or that there is an ongoing risk to public safety as a result of the incident.
Police presence will remain in the area of Terrace Hill St. and St. Paul Avenue.

Brantford Police Investigating Homicide
The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit is currently investigating the death of a 34 year old Brantford man.
On Monday January 1, 2018 just after 5:30 p.m. the Branford Police Service received a call about a male who had been taken to the Brantford General Hospital with life threatening injuries. An incident had occurred in the area of St Paul Ave and Terrace Hill Street. The male victim has since died from his injuries. A post mortem is to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Citizens and businesses in the area will continue to see an increased police presence as the investigation continues. Brantford Police Investigate Homicide Incident #46963-17
On Thursday, December 7, 2017 at approximately 9:39 p.m. Brantford Police were dispatched to a Sheridan Street address in Brantford with regards to an injured 42-year-old female victim who had been stabbed.
The victim was transported to the Brantford General Hospital and pronounced deceased.
A 24-year-old female was arrested at the scene and charges are pending in relation to the homicide.

UPDATE
The accused, a 24-year-old Brantford woman will appear at a bail hearing today on December 8, 2017.
The accused is charged with the following offences;
Murder - Second Degree, Assault, Assault Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with Undertaking X4. The accused was arrested on scene at the Sheridan Street address.
The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit continue their investigation and wish to notify the residents in the area that officers will be canvassing neighbouring homes as part of their investigation.
The incident is domestic related and therefore the BPS will not be releasing the name of the accused.

October 6 ? 9, 2017 will mark Operation Impact, a national campaign to make Canada's roads the safest in the world. This special initiative focuses on safe driving practices, and is timed in conjunction with Canada?s Thanksgiving holiday weekend, when the traveling public will be out in great numbers.
Operation Impact is a time to remind drivers and passengers across Canada to consciously consider safety whenever they get behind the wheel.

Brantford man charged with Manslaughter after Trafficking Cocaine and Fentanyl

Location: Nelson Street
Incident: On Friday, September 1, 2017 shortly after 8:00 p.m., Community Patrol
Officers attended an address on Nelson Street to assist ambulance
regarding a suspected drug overdose. A 46 year old Brantford man was
transported to hospital for medical treatment. On Monday, September 4,
2017 the individual was pronounced deceased at hospital.
The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit commenced a sudden
death investigation into the suspected overdose and subsequent death of
the victim. A Brantford man was identified by Detectives from the Major
Crime Unit as the accused wanted in relation to the death of the victim. It
is alleged that the accused trafficked powdered fentanyl and powdered
cocaine to the victim.
Members from the Brantford Police Service Street Crime Unit sought out to locate and arrest the accused for Manslaughter. On Monday, September 4, 2017 shortly after 6:00 p.m., Detectives from the Street Crime Unit arrested the accused in a parking lot on Murray Street.
Further, the following drugs were found on the accused at the time of his arrest:
1. 4.2 grams of suspected crack cocaine (Street Value $420.00)
2. 4.9 grams of suspected powder cocaine (Street Value $490.00)
3. 3.93 grams of suspected powder fentanyl (Street Value $983)
4. 1.44 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine (Street Value $216.00)
The total street value of drugs found on the accused is $2109.00.
Andrew Earl ALLISON, 34 years of Brantford is charged with the following offences in relation to the sudden death investigation;
* Manslaughter, contrary to section 236(b) of the Criminal Code
* Trafficking a substance (powder cocaine), contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
* Trafficking a substance (powder fentanyl), contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
As a result of the drugs found on the accused person at the time of his arrest the accused is also charged with the following offences.
* Possession for the purpose of trafficking a substance (crack cocaine), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
* Possession for the purpose of trafficking a substance (powder cocaine), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
* Possession for the purpose of trafficking a substance (powder fentanyl), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
*Possession for the purpose of trafficking a substance (methamphetamine), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
* Possession of property obtained by crime, ($250.00 cash), contrary to Section 354(1) of the Criminal Code

Project Shutdown Members Recover $800,000.00 in Stolen Vehicles
Southwestern Ontario experiences an extraordinarily high number of auto theft occurrences each year. It is estimated that the stolen car industry is a 600 million dollar a year illicit industry in Ontario. In particular, high end GMC pickup trucks and SUV?s are frequently targeted and "stripped? for their parts and sold illegally and within criminal networks.
Project Shutdown is a multi- jurisdictional joint forces project led by the Hamilton Police Service and includes members from the Halton Police Service, Six Nations Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, and Brantford Police Service. The project is aimed at targeting auto theft, in and around the greater Toronto area.
Members of Project Shutdown, using different investigative techniques, were able to identify numerous locations on the Six Nations Territory where stolen vehicles were being dropped off and dismantled.
On Thursday, June 15th 2017 a total of 75 stolen vehicles were located and recovered by police. The approximate value of the recovered stolen vehicles is $811,000.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN 2017
On Friday June 9, 2017, the Brantford Police Service will be hosting its annual Law Enforcement Torch Run and BBQ in support of the Special Olympics.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Known honourably as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the "Flame of Hope? into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions, and into Special Olympics Provincial, National, Regional and World Games. Worldwide annually, more than 97,000 dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry the "Flame of Hope,? symbolizing courage and celebration of diversity uniting communities around the globe.
Special Olympics athletes will join participants from the BPS and students on Friday June 9th 2017 at 11:00 a.m. for photo opportunities on the track at Pauline Johnson Collegiate & Vocational School at 627 Colborne Street. The Torch Run will take place from 11:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. on the school track. The change of location adds to the community involvement as students who wanted to take part and raise funds for the Special Olympics are now able to attend and be a part of the event.
We invite members of the community and our media partners to join us at Pauline Johnson Collegiate & Vocational School, to cheer on participants, purchase a special edition t-shirt and/or join us for a charity BBQ all in support of the Special Olympics.

Brantford Inmate Escapes - Incident #20650-17
David George GOYIT was in custody for Breach of Conditions offences. GOYIT was arrested on May 25, 2017 on an outstanding warrant for charges of Breach of Recognizance and Breach of Probation. These offences stem from original offences involving property related crimes for thefts and frauds.
Although the original offences had no acts of violence present, the Brantford Police Service still advise the public that if GOYIT is seen, do not approach and call 911 immediately.
