Type:  Fraud  
Incident   18-7654
Incident:   On Tuesday February 27, 2018 a Brantford woman reported receiving a telephone call at around 4:20 a.m. from an individual representing themselves as a Scotia Bank employee. The victim was told that there was unusual activity on her credit card account and in return she provided personal information to the caller. The victim eventually realized that the caller was a fraudster and contacted her bank. The victim was able to change her banking information and was advised to contact Transunion and Equifax.  
 Protect yourself, legitimate financial institutions do not request personal information from their clients by unsolicited phone or email as they already have your information. Do not provide personal information including your account number, password and /or pin number.
 Do not rely on call display or a person unknown to you identifying them as a bank employee on the telephone. Always contact your financial institution directly to confirm the authenticity of the caller.

Type: Drug Overdose 
Incident:   On the early morning of Wednesday February 28, 2018 at around 1:30 a.m. the Brantford Police Service attended an address in Brantford to assist ambulance regarding a man suffering from a suspected drug overdose. A 45 year old Brantford man was taken to hospital and administered Narcan.  The male is expected to make a full recovery.

Incident:   On Tuesday February 28, 2018, at around 5:00 p.m. the Brantford Police Service attended an address in Brantford and assisted ambulance regarding a suspected drug overdose. A 30 year old Brantford man was transported to hospital and administered Narcan.  The male is expected to make a full recovery from the suspected overdose.


Know how to react! If you think someone is overdosing call 9-1-1- immediately. Give the person naloxone if it?s available. Naloxone is an emergency medication that reverses the effects of an overdose from opioids such as fentanyl. You can give naloxone while you wait for emergency services to arrive. Remember naloxone can temporarily reverse an overdose but it can wear off before the person has completely recovered. Always call 9-1-1.

*Cold, clammy skin
*Slow heartbeat
* Trouble breathing
*Slow, shallow breathing
*Gurgling or snoring sounds

Type: Mischief
Incident:   On Wednesday February 28, 2018 shortly before 2:00 a.m. a citizen from an apartment complex on Helen Avenue telephoned the police to report a suspicious man in the building.  The man had been knocking on a door and then observed damaging a sign next to an elevator. Community Patrol Officers attended and arrested the accused who was standing next to the elevator with the damaged exit sign in his hands. The accused, a 19 year old Brantford man is charged with Mischief under $5,000.00. The accused was released with a future court date.

Location: King George Road  
Incident:   On Wednesday February 28, 2018 shortly before 5:00 a.m. a citizen telephoned police to report a male passed out in the driver?s side seat of a vehicle on a parking lot on King George Road. The vehicle was running and the driver?s side door open. Community Patrol Officers attended and had conversation with the male driver.  The male driver displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for care and control of a motor vehicle. The accused was taken to the Brantford Police Service where he provided samples of his breath. The accused, a 19 year old Brantford man is charged with; Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired
And Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle over the Legal Limit. Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Location: Erie Ave
Incident:  On Monday February 26, 2018 Brantford Police Service received a report
of a break and enter to an apartment on Erie Ave.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) forced open a door to a vacant apartment under renovation.  Reported taken were a number of tools and construction items.

Location:  Henrietta Street  
Incident: On Monday February 26, 2017 the Brantford Police Service received a
call from a resident on Henrietta Street.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) broke into a vehicle by prying open the window.  Nothing was reported taken from the vehicle but damage was caused to the vehicles door and widow.

Location:  Colborne Street
Incident:   On Monday February 26, 2017 just after 9:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a call from a residence on Colborne Street.  The victim had attended to her daughter?s residence on Colborne Street for a visit.  The victim parked her vehicle in the driveway and went inside.  Another resident in the building did not believe the victim should have parked her vehicle in the driveway and went out and punctured the two rear tires on the victim?s vehicle.  A 62 year old Brantford woman is charged with Mischief to Property Under $5000.

Incident:   On Sunday February 25, 2018 at around 6:00 a.m. a male ran to a neighbours home and called 911 emergency. The male had been attacked and chased out of his resident by his common law girlfriend. Investigation revealed that the victim and accused engaged in a verbal argument and the victim had sought shelter in a bathroom. The accused forced her way into the bathroom armed with a kitchen knife and a physical confrontation ensued where the accused slashed the victim?s hand. The victim a 28 year old Brantford man was able to wrestle the knife away from the accused and fled the resident to a neighbours home where he called the police. The accused, a 25 year old Brantford woman was arrested without incident and charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing. The victim received serious non-life threatening injuries.

Incident:   On Monday February 26, 2018 shortly after midnight, community Patrol Officers attended a Brantford resident regarding a domestic dispute between a father and son. The accused, a 24 year old Brantford man became upset when his father, a 44 year old man attempted to calm him down. The accused grabbed two crow bars and engaged in a physical confrontation with his father. Community Patrol Officers attended and the accused charged at one of the officers attempting to punch and kick at the officer. The accused was subdued and arrested. The accused is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Assault Peace Officer and Breach of Recognizance. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing. The victim was not injured.   

Type: Fraud
Incident:   On Friday February 16, 2018 at around 1:30 p.m. the accused attended a Cash Money Store on Dalhousie Street and attempted to cash a cheque in the amount of $200.00. The cheque was issued to the accused from a male residing in Hamilton.  The employee asked a few questions to the accused and advised that they would be contacting the person named on the cheque to verify. The accused advised that he was stepping out of the store to attend next door to a convenience store and would return back. The accused did not return. The business contacted the police on February 20, 2018 to report the possible fraud. A Community Patrol Officer assigned to the case contacted the name on the cheque and was advised that he (victim) did not issue and sign such a cheque. Investigation revealed that approximately a week before this incident the victim?s vehicle had been reported stolen to the Hamilton Police Service and a blank cheque may have been in the vehicle.
 Hamilton Police Service was contacted and assistance requested to have an officer attend the accused address in Hamilton regarding arresting him for the offence of Utter a Forged document. On Sunday February 25, 2018 the accused was arrested and returned to Brantford Police service without incident. The accused Chad Damien HOWE, 36 years of Hamilton is charged with Attempt to Commit Fraud under $5,000.00, Utter a Forged Document, Breach of Probation and Breach of Recognizance. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Location: Henry Street (100 block)  
Incident:   On February 25, 2018 at around 3:00 p.m. an unknown male entered a business lot on Henry Street. The male suspect stole an electrical panel unit from the property. The suspect is described as 25-30 years of age, 5 foot 10 and dark hair. The suspect was last seen leaving on a bicycle.

Location: Linden Ave
Incident: On Thursday February 22, 2018 just after 1:00 p.m. the Brantford Police
Service received a call from a resident on Linden Ave.  The resident reported having a verbal dispute with his neighbour.  After the initial dispute the accused returned and pointed a firearm at the victim and threatened him.  The victim was able to leave the area and call for help.  Community patrol officers attended to the area where they located the accused who was arrested without incident.  During the arrest the accused was found to be in possession of two replica handguns which were determined to be pellet guns.  The accused a 22 year old Brantford male is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Uttering Threats to Cause Death/Bodily Harm.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.  The identity of the accused will not be released at this time to protect the identity of the victim.

Location:  Richardson Street
Incident:   On Wednesday February 21, 2018 just before 4:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a Richardson Street residence.  Information had been received that victim #1 a 25 year old female?s ex-boyfriend had attended to her residence and forced open the front door.  The accused then confronted victim #1 and her friend victim #2 a 28 year old Brantford male.  The accused began to physically assault victim #1, repeatedly punching and kicking her. He then grabbed her cell phone and smashed it.  The accused then turned his attention to victim #2 who was then confronted and also physically assaulted inside the residence.  The accused fled the residence prior to police arrival.  Investigation revealed that the accused was currently bound by two separate court orders with conditions.  The accused a 22 year old Brantford male is charged with Break, Enter and Commit, Assault x2, Mischief to Property Under $5000 and Breach of Probation x2.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location:  Edwin Street  
Incident:   On Thursday February 22, 2018 just before 5:30 p.m. the Brantford Police Service received a call from an Edwin Street residence.  Sometime during the day unknown person(s) forced open the rear door to the residence.  Entry was gained and the residence was ransacked.  It was unknown at the time of the report what was taken.

Location:  West Street 
Incident:  On Thursday February 22, 2018 just before 12:00 p.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle being operated on West Street.  Information was received that the licence plates attached to the vehicle did not belong to that vehicle and the validation permit had expired.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.  The driver was unable to produce a valid driver?s licence, motor vehicle permit or valid insurance.  Investigation revealed that the driver?s licence was suspended.  The driver a 28 year old Brantford man is charged with Drive While Under Suspension, Use Plates Not Authorized for Vehicle, Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle, Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner under the Highway Traffic Act.  He was further charged with Operate Motor Vehicle No Insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

Location: Buffalo Street
Incident: On Monday February 19, 2018 Brantford Police Service received a call
from a resident on Buffalo Street.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) broke into the residence through a window.  The residence was ransacked and a number of items were taken including a gaming system, games and jewelry.

 Incident:  On Monday February 19, 2018 just after 8:00 a.m. Brantford Police 
Service received a report of a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle a Chevy Silverado Pick-Up truck had been locked and parked on the street overnight.   The vehicle contained a number of tools and hockey equipment.  Community Patrol Officers attended and searched for the vehicle with negative results.

Incident: On Friday February 16, 2018 Brantford Police Service received a call from a business on West Street.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) forced their way into a storage trailer at the rear of the business and took a large number of tires and rims.

Location: Coachwood Road
Incident: On Friday February 16, 2018 Brantford Police Service received a call
from a resident from Coachwood Road.  Sometime overnight unknown person(s) broke into a rear shed and took a number of items including a set of tires and rims.

Location: Market Street 
Incident:  On Friday February 16, 2018 just after 12:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a business on Market Street.  Staff reported a male entered and had demanded services.  When the male was denied he became agitated and began to swear at staff and kicked at the staff entrance damaging the door. The male left but returned a short time later with a metal pipe and caused damage to the lobby before leaving.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the area and located the suspect male a short distance away.  The accused was arrested without incident.  Information received was the accused was currently bound by a court order with conditions.  Aiden Ulton Jenkins a 33 year old male from Brantford is charged with Mischief Under $5000.00, Possession of Weapons Dangerous and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location: Banbury Road Street
Incident:  On Saturday, February 17, 2018, Brantford Police Service received a call
from a resident from Banbury Road.  Sometime during the afternoon unknown person(s) broke into the residence through a rear sliding door.  Reported taken was a guitar, computer and other items.

Location: Colborne Street West 
Incident:  On Sunday February 18, 2018 just before 2:30 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a pickup truck being driven at a high rate of speed on Colborne Street West.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.  The driver was unable to produce a valid driver?s licence.  Information was received that the driver?s licence was suspended.  The driver a 49 year old London man is charged with Drive While Under Suspension x3 under the Highway Traffic Act.

Location: Brant Ave 
Incident:  On Sunday February 18, 2018 just after 3:30 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle driving on Brant Ave.  Officers observed the vehicle diving outside marked lanes and performed a traffic stop.  Officers spoke to the male driver and believed that he had consumed alcohol.  The driver was issued a demand to provide a sample of his breath into an approved roadside screening device. The driver registered a fail, he was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service where he was to provide two samples of his breath as required by law.  The accused provided two sample of his breath which was over the legal limit.  The accused, a 38 year old male from Kitchener is charged with Operate Motor Vehicle Over 80.  The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date. Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days

Location: Bosworth Court
Incident: On Thursday February 15, 2018 just after 1:30 p.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a pickup truck being driven on Bosworth Court.  Information received was the validation permit on the license plate was expired.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.  The driver was unable to produce a valid ownership or proof of insurance for the vehicle. Information was received that the driver?s licence was also suspended.  The driver a 25 year old Brantford man is charged with Drive While Under Suspension, Fail to Surrender Permit For Motor Vehicle, Drive Motor Vehicle-No Validation on Plate under the Highway Traffic Act.  He is further charged with Owner Operate Motor Vehicle ? No Insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

Location: Colborne Street
Incident:  On Thursday February 15, 2018 just before 2:00 p.m. the Brantford Police
Service received a call from employees at a store on Colborne Street.  A male was inside the store and had concealed items under his clothing.  The male had left the store without making any attempts to pay for the items.  Employees tried to stop the male from leaving but he got on his bike and left the area.  Community Patrol Officers attend to the area and located the suspect matching the description provided by employees.  The suspect was arrested without incident.  Information was received that the accused was currently bound by two court orders that he was in contravention of.  Jordan William CLARK 23 years old of Brantford is charged with Theft Under $5000 and Breach of Probation x2.  The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Location: West Street
Incident:  On Friday, February 16, 2018, just after 1:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle on Terrace Hill St at West St.  Officers observed the motor vehicle driving with no headlights or no taillights.  The vehicle approached and went through a red light on West St.  A traffic stop was performed and the driver was spoken to.  The driver was unable to produce a driver?s licence.  Information received was that the driver?s licence was under suspension.  The driver a 33 year old Brantford man is charged with Drive under suspension, Red light ? fail to stop, Drive without proper headlights ? motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act.

Location: Equestrian Court 
Incident:  On Thursday February 15, 2018 just before 11:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a resident on Equestrian Court.  The resident had caught someone breaking into their garage and scared them off. The suspect was last seen running down the street and onto Sympatica Cres. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Incident: 18-5971
Location: Marlborough Street
Incident: On Wednesday February 14th 2018, just after 4:30 p.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residence on Marlborough Street.  Residents from a rooming house reported that one of their roommates was creating a disturbance and had assaulted and threated them.  Community Patrol Officers attended to the residence and spoke to the vicitms.  Investigation revealed that victim #1 a 60 year old male had been in the kitchen when the accused confronted him with a knife and threatened to kill him.  Victim #1 was able to get away from the accused and was not physically injured.  Victim #2 a 61 year old female was confronted by the accused and she was able to get to and lock herself in the bathroom.  The accused started to kick and bang on the door threatening to physically harm her.  The accused was located and arrested without incident.  A 65 year old Brantford woman is charged with Utter Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death x2, Assault with a Weapon and Breach of Probation.  The accused was held for a bail hearing

Location: Clarence Street
Incident: On Thursday February 15, 2018 just before 4:00 a.m. Community Patrol
Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Darling Street at Clearance Street that did not stop for a red light.  Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the female driver and two passangers.  In speaking to the driver she was unable to produce a driver?s licence and provided false information.  Investigation revealed the driver was currently bound by two court orders with conditions including a curfew that she was not abiding by.  The driver was arrested for Failing to Comply with her conditions.  Further investigation revealed several packages containing controlled substances including cocaine, methamphetamine and hydro-morphine and a quantity of Canadian currency.  The total weight of the cocaine was 51.47 grams with a value of $5147.00, total weight of methamphetamine was 4.88 grams with a value of $536.00 and 2 x 12 mg hydro-morphine pills with a value of $30.00. Jessica GORTYCH 18 years old from Toronto is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Substance x3 under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.  She is also charged with Obstruct Police, Identity Fraud, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Fail to Comply with Recognizance x2 under the Criminal Code.  Michelle BROWN 18 years of Toronto is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Substance x3 under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.  She is further charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under the Criminal Code.  Faud Mohamed 20 years of Hamilton is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Substance x3 under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.  He is further charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under the Criminal Code.  All three accused were held for a bail hearing.

Location: Clarence Street at Icomm Drive
Incident: On Wednesday February 14th 2018 just before 6:30 p.m.  Community Patrol Officers observed a pickup truck being driven on Clarence Street near Icomm Drive.  Information received was the license plates on the truck were currently unattached and not registered to that vehicle. Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the male driver.  The driver was unable to produce a valid ownership or proof of insurance for the vehicle. Information was received that the vehicle had recently been purchased and not yet registered and there was no insurance on the vehicle.  The license plates on the vehicle did not belong to that vehicle and the validation sticker was not valid for that vehicle or the licence plates.  The driver a 29 year old Brantford man is charged with Owner Operate Motor Vehicle ? No Insurance under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.  He is further charged with Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle, Use Validation Not Furnished for Vehicle and Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner under the Highway Traffic Act.

Location: Dalhousie Street 
Incident   5828-18
Incident:   On Tuesday February 13, 2018, shortly before 7:00 p.m. Community Patrol Officers attended an address on Dalhousie Street regarding an unwanted male. The male who was temporarily rooming at an address on Dalhousie Street (100 block) began to cause a disturbance and was asked to leave. Community Patrol Officers spoke with the male in attempts to convince the male to leave calmly. The male became assaultive and punched one officer in the chin and elbowed another officer in the face. The accused,  a 28 year old Brantford man is charged with Assault Peace Officer X2 and Breach of Probation.    
 The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Type: Theft from Motor Vehicle
Location: Colborne Street (900 block)  
Incident:   On Tuesday February 13, 2018 sometime during the day an unlocked vehicle was entered on Colborne Street and a men?s wallet was stolen. The owner of the wallet later received notifications from his credit card company that a credit card which had been stolen from the wallet had been used at a business in Brantford. 

Type: Suspicious Persons
Location: Ashgrove Avenue  
Incident:   On Wednesday February 14, 2018 at around 5:00 a.m. an alert citizen called police to report two suspicious men on Ashgrove Avenue. The males appeared to have been checking out parked vehicles in the area. The citizen advised that the males took off running when the citizen banged on his home window. One male is described as being a large male wearing a black toque. Community Patrol Officers attended the area and did not find any vehicles being entered. The unknown males had fled the area prior to police arriving.

Incident:   On Tuesday February 13, 2018, shortly before 3:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle that was observed failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving a motor vehicle while being a suspended driver. A large amount of cocaine was located in the vehicle.  82.73 grams of cocaine was seized with a street value of approximately $8,200.00.  The accused, Odinga Tony SAM (Sam being the last name) 26 years of Toronto is charged with the following offences, Breach of Recognizance X3, Possession for the Purpose Schedule 1 ? Cocaine and Drive while under suspension (HTA)
 The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Type: Shoplifting
Location: Colborne Street West  
Incident:   On Monday February 12, 2018 shortly before 4:00 p.m. a woman was arrested by a loss prevention officer at a business on Colborne Street West (100 block). The woman had been observed concealing items into her purse and exiting the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise. A Community Patrol Officer attended and found that the woman had multiple pieces of identification on her possession which did not belong to her. Investigation revealed that several pieces of the identification were reported stolen last year. In August of 2017 a Brantford woman reported the theft of her wallet from a shopping cart while shopping at a business on Market Street.
 The accused a 47 year old Brantford woman is charged with Theft under $5,000.00, Use of Credit Card and Possession of An Identity Document. The accused was released with a future court date.  

Type: Break and Enter - Shed
Location: Egerton Street  
Incident:   On the morning of Monday February 12, 2018 a rear shed at a home on Egerton was found to have been broken into. Two bicycles were reported stolen. The first is a black Transeo GT and the second is a black Norco Bush Pilot.

Type: Theft from Motor Vehicle 
Location: Adelaide Avenue  
Incident:   On the morning of Monday February 12, 2018 it was discovered that a motor vehicle was entered sometime over night. Amongst the items reported stolen were a variety of items and gear used for trapping.
