Brantford Police Service executed two search warrants and arrested three people at a residence on Grand Street.
On Friday October 18, 2019, just after 7:00 a.m. the Brantford Police Service received information about an individual who may have been in possession of a firearm. An investigation was initiated which brought police to a residence on Grand Street, Brantford. Due to the nature of the investigation the surrounding neighborhood was closed, and residents were notified. In consultation with the Grand Erie District School Board and in the interests of the safety and wellbeing of the staff and students of a grade school located nearby, a decision was made to close the school for the day.
During the course of the investigation eight people from the residence were detained. Three of those residents were arrested on outstanding arrest warrants. The Brantford Police Service – Major Crime Unit continued to investigate the firearms incident throughout the day and into the evening.
With the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, BPS K-9, Task Force, Major Crime Unit and O.P.P., two search warrants were executed at the residence on Grand St. and a search was conducted of the surrounding properties. No firearm was located as a result of the search warrants.
